We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for a Senior Examiner.  The Senior Examiner effectively determines and communicates the extent of loss or damage associated with highly complex and/or extensive commercial property claims in a variety of business classes.  The Senior Examiner assists the insurer in fulfilling its obligation to policyholders and helps safeguard the insurer’s reputation and efficacy. This position involves managing a volume of large or complex losses.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively reporting for national account, multi-layered underwriter programs, under direction of account lead.
  • Assist in set up, coordination of claim handling process, diary reporting, along with understanding and handling of accounts with loss runs, aggregates, and loss funds.
  • Investigates, determines coverage of loss, coordinates and works with field adjusters and consultants, and adjusts all elements of routine Property Loss claims.
  • Composes appraisals for dwelling (building) repairs of routine claims based on information collected from customers and contractors and issues payment to policyholders where possible.
  • Explains coverage of loss, assists policyholders with itemization of damages, emergency repairs and time element (instead of - additional living arrangements. Loss of rents and extra expense  
  • Collaborate with and occasionally coordinate a number of vendor services such as contractors, emergency repair, cleaning services and various replacement services.
  • May be called upon for catastrophe duty.
  • Proactive in securing loss settlements.
  • Effective use of Xactimate system as necessary

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; interpersonal skills; computer skills with the ability to work with multi-faceted systems; and analytical skills.
  • General Adjuster or similar level of experience, minimum 5 years of claim handling.
  • Demonstrated understanding of building construction principles. Knowledge of coverages provided within various commercial and residential policies.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Ability to effectively and independently manage workload while exhibiting good judgment.
  • The capabilities, skills and knowledge required is normally acquired through Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Ability to obtain proper licensing as required.
  • Strongly skilled in Excel and Word with sound written and oral business communication skills, clearly and succinctly articulate concepts and findings
  • Organizational skills; excellent interpersonal, exceptional customer service, and problem-solving skills; demonstrates teamwork, compassion, and respect toward others
